Millions of truck drivers go on strike

Millions of truck drivers launched an indefinite strike on 2 July 2008 to protest high taxes and the increasing cost of fuel. There are concerns that a prolonged strike by the drivers could result in shortages of goods and lead to higher prices. However, negotiations to end the labour action are currently underway.
