MAJOR FLOODING IN DELHI AFFECTS AIRPORT
28 Jul 2009
Heavy monsoon rainfall caused flooding on major highways and roads throughout Delhi overnight on 27-28 July 2009. Flooding was most severe at the Dhaula Kaun intersection, the Moolchand flyover, Minto Road, Rind Road and roads that connect east Delhi with the nearby industrial cities of Noida and Ghaziabad. Power disruptions have also been reported. Poor weather conditions have caused flight delays at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Flooding caused major traffic jams in the vicinity of the 1D domestic terminal. There have been reports of water leaks inside the terminal, where water damaged X-ray machines at a security checkpoint.
