JET AIRWAYS WORKERS LAUNCH WILDCAT STRIKE
08 Sep 2009
Approximately 400 Jet Airways workers launched a wildcat strike on 8 September 2009, to protest the recent dismissal of two pilots involved in establishing a new union. The Bombay High Court had issued an order prohibiting the pilots from launching a strike. The Indian government has threatened to invoke the Essential Service Maintenance Act to force the pilots to return to work. The strike has caused the cancellation of approximately 200 domestic and international flights. The airline is working to reschedule passengers on flights with other airlines and is offering a full refund.
