Japanese journalist shot and wounded in Peshawar

A Japanese journalist was shot and wounded in the city of Peshawar on 13 November 2008. An Afghani journalist was also reportedly wounded in the attack. Authorities stated that gunmen ambushed the two men while they were driving through the Hayatabad section of the city. The Japanese journalist was in Peshawar to try to interview a high-ranking militant commander amid the rise in violence in northwestern Pakistan. The two men are being treated for their injuries at a local hospital.
