GRENADE-LIKE OBJECT FOUND IN PARKING AREA AT CHENNAI AIRPORT

Authorities found an object resembling a grenade in a car parking area at Chennai International Airport on 30 June 2009. A bomb disposal team removed the object and later determined that it was a "non-lethal explosive substance" that armed personnel had used for training. Authorities are investigating how the object got to the parking area. Authorities tightened security at the airport in response to the incident.
