Delhi Airspace To Be Restricted

22 Jan 2010
Delhi airspace will be closed from 1115 to 1215 local time from 21-24 January and on 26 January in preparation for Republic Day celebrations. No flights will be permitted to take off or land at Indira Gandhi International Airport (VIDP/DEL), and aircraft cannot operate within a radius of 50 nautical miles over Delhi airspace. The central government has directed states to heighten security at major tourist attractions, government buildings and public transportation ahead of Republic Day, as is common before major holidays.
