CUTS TO WATER SUPPLIES IMPLEMENTED IN MUMBAI
07 Jul 2009
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that it will impose a 30-percent cut in water supplies throughout Mumbai beginning at midnight on 7 July. The BMC stated that the cut is necessary in order to compensate for the late arrival of the monsoon season. The BMC stated that the cuts will affect water supplies at five-star hotels, industrial units and hospitals, government offices and private swimming pools. The BMC is exploring other options, including rain water harvesting, to help alleviate the water shortage
