Security was heightened at three airports in Kerala state after authorities received threatening calls warning of attacks by Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam sympathisers. The call was received on 19 March by the Central Intelligence Bureau. The caller warned of a bomb attack at either Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (VOTV/TRV), Kochi International Airport (VOCI/COK) or Calicut International Airport (VOCL/CCJ). Security forces searched Thiruvananthapuram International Airport after the threat was received. Patrols at the facilities have been increased, entry points for vehicles have been restricted and bomb squads have been deployed to the airports in response to the threats.
