2 further bombs defused in Surat

On 31 July 2008 Surat police officials disclosed that they have defused two more bombs in the city. One bomb was found near the Labheswar police station and another device was found in a bag of clothes in the Hirabazar area of Mahindarpura. Local residents were the ones who found the devices and alerted police. The discovery of these devices raises the number of total bombs found in Surat in the past several days to 26, all planted in crowded neighborhoods. Police reports also state that they have been overloaded with hoax calls as they have been investigating all potential bomb-related calls.
