Transport Drivers continue Work-To-Rule
06 Jan 2010
Drivers working for the Budapest Transport Company (BKV) continued a work-to-rule labour action over contract negotiations in Budapest on 5 January 2009. Drivers of 150-250 buses were not leaving their garages, many claiming that the vehicles have mechanical or other technical problems. Unions representing the workers have threatened to stage an open-ended strike beginning on 12 January. Meanwhile, transportation has been further delayed by heavy snow on 6 January. Train schedules in some areas, including major cities, are running up to 40 minutes late.
