Strike at Budapest's Ferihegy International Airport suspended

The strike at Budapest's Ferihegy International Airport (LHBP/BUD) was suspended at 0600 local time on 21 January 2009, despite unions and airport management failing to come to an agreement in negotiations the previous day. Terminal 1 remained closed at the start of the day, but no delays were reported. The unions have indicated that they are switching their strategy to intermittent -- rather than constant -- strikes at the airport and have stated that they may stage a strike on 26 January. In addition, they have warned that they will only announce strikes a few hours ahead of time.
