Travellers should anticipate transportation disruptions throughout the country due to heavy rains

Several days of heavy rains have resulted in widespread flooding across Honduras. Flooding has caused mudslides in many areas, including in Tegucigalpa, and damaged dozens of bridges and highways. At least 18 people have been killed so far, while more than 12,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes. Travellers should anticipate transportation disruptions throughout the country. President Manuel Zelaya has declared a national state of emergency.
