Senate approve Pierre-Louis as P.M

The Haitian Senate gave preliminary approval for Michele Pierre-Louis to become prime minister in a 12-0 vote with five abstentions on 31 July 2008. Lawmakers had rejected President Rene's Preval's previous two nominees. Before Pierre-Louis assumes power, both chambers of Parliament must approve her Cabinet and political agenda.
