Election-related violence has been reported throughout Haiti on 20 April 2009. Authorities cancelled voting in the Central Plateau area because of violence and widespread fraud. Hundreds of protesters seized polling stations and destroyed ballots in the town of Mirebalais. The results have not yet been announced and it is likely to be several run-off elections.
