Airport aims to be open 24hr by end of February

06 Feb 2009
Striking air traffic controllers returned to work yesterday following the President's promise to meet with them to negotiate a solution to their grievances. The workers started their strike after the Guyanese Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) refused their demands for a salary increase. The action forced Cheddi Jagan International Airport (SYCJ/GEO) to limit its daily operations to daytime flights only. Officials stated that the airport aims to resume 24-hour operations by the end of February
