Gang throw Molotov cocktail onto public bus

On 10 February 2009 a group of suspected gang members threw a Molotov cocktail onto a public bus after the driver refused to agree to their extortion demands. The incident, which left four individuals gravely injured, occurred in a bus station in La Parroquia, a northern zone of Guatemala City. According to officials, extortion gangs have been targeting public transportation drivers since 2007, daily demanding payments to avoid attacks. So far in 2009, such gangs have killed 12 drivers.
