Transportation disruptions are likely on 8 January 2009 due to a planned Metro workers' strike. The 24-hour strike will likely shut down commuter services. Separately, civil servants associated with the ADEDY union are planning to launch a strike at 1200 local time on 9 January in conjunction with a planned student and teachers' protest
