Olympic Airlines staff staged a protest at Athens International Airport

Employees of state-owned Olympic Airlines staged a protest at Athens International Airport (LGAV/ATH) on 23 September 2008, blocking the main runway. Fights were diverted to a second runway for the duration of the protest, and no disruptions to schedules were reported. Workers also blocked taxiway at the airport in a similar protest on 18 September, and additional protests are planned. The recent actions have been organized over plans to privatize the airline in 2009, which could result in job losses.
