Kotoka International Airport workers consider strike measures

Kotoka International Airport (DGAA/ACC) workers warned on 22 April 2009 that they are considering strike measures due to an ongoing dispute over salaries and working conditions. Aviation officers indicated that if their grievances are not addressed they will take to the streets of the capital city of Accra in protest. Local sources also indicated that many aviation officicals have resorted to illegally soliciting funds from tourists and foreigners at the airport in an effort to increase their income. The exact date of the possible protest action was not indicated, and there has been no official response by airport authorities so far.
