Lufthansa flight attendants go on warning strike

Flight attendants with German carrier Lufthansa staged a three-hour warning strike in Frankfurt from 0615 to 0915 local time (0515 to 0815 UTC) on 23 January 2009. The walk-out caused the delay or cancellation of at least 44 flights to domestic and European destinations from Frankfurt International Airport (EDDF/FRA), Lufthansa's main hub. There were no reports of international flights being disrupted by the strike, which was aimed at securing a 15 percent pay increase for the cabin crew's labor union employees. The union representing the workers, UFO, has warned that it may stage additional warning strikes.
