FCO advise against all travel to Georgia

12 Aug 2008
If British Nationals have no urgent need to stay in Georgia we advise them to leave as soon as possible. If you are currently in Georgia, you should consider leaving whilst routes out of the country are still available. Land borders with Armenia, Turkey and Azerbaijan are currently open. The position on air travel is uncertain. If you are outside Tbilisi, you should avoid travel if it is not safe to do so, keep up-to-date with developments and remain in contact with the British Embassy in Tbilisi. Please see the local travel section of this advice for more details. The British Embassy in Tbilisi is organising coaches from Tbilisi to Yerevan in Armenia to assist the departure of those British nationals who are unable to make their own arrangements to leave the country. For more information, please contact the British Embassy on (00995) 188 687 or (00995) 119 693.
