Wreckage spotted following aircraft disappearance

Brazilian military aircraft spotted the possible wreckage of an aircraft approximately 400 miles off the northern coast of Brazil on 2 June 2009. The wreckage includes metallic objects and aircraft seats. However, the military has not yet confirmed that that the wreckage belongs to Air France flight 447, which disappeared over the Atlantic on 1 June while en route from Rio de Janiero to Paris. Stormy sea conditions have hampered recovery efforts.
