Travellers stranded by port blockade of Calais for 3rd day

16 Apr 2009
Thousands of holidaymakers and hauliers trying to cross the Channel are facing a third day of disruption because of industrial action by French fishermen. Blockades of Calais, Dunkirk and Boulogne were temporarily lifted earlier so protesters could attend union meetings. Some ferry services remain suspended. Norfolkline has said it will set sail while the blockades are lifted. Fishermen are taking part in union talks later in Dunkirk and Calais. The meetings are to decide whether protests should continue after fishermen's representatives met government officials on Wednesday.
