French air traffic controllers stage a strike

French air traffic controllers are scheduled to strike from 1700 UTC (1900 local time) on 20 July 2010 until 0500 UTC (0700 local time) on 22 July to protest the proposed merger of European air traffic control networks. As a result of the work stoppage, 20 percent of flights from Paris' Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport (LFPG/CDG) and 50 percent of flights from Orly Airport (LFPO/ORY) are expected to be canceled; flight delays are also a distinct possibility.
