AIRCRAFT ENGINE CATCHES FIRE ON TAKE OFF

The engine of an Airbus A320 operated by low-cost Spanish carrier Vueling (flight number 9127) caught fire as the aircraft prepared to take off from Paris' Orly Airport at approximately 1035 local time on 5 August 2009. The 169 passengers on board the aircraft -- which was due to travel to Alicante, Spain -- were evacuated using emergency slides; six people sustained minor injuries upon exiting the aircraft. Fire fighters extinguished the fire.
