Heavy flooding causes severe disruption to roads

There has been widespread flooding in Nadi, Labasa and Nausori between 8-11 January 2009 which has caused severe disruption to roads. Authoriites are urging motorists to travel only if necessary and the police have set up checkpoints to prevent travel by road to affected areas. You should not attempt to continue your journey by road if you are advised to turn back. Nausori airport (serving Suva) has been affected and y should check with your airline that flights are operating. More heavy rainfall is expected over the next few days.
