Quito mudslide closes major throughfare

Mudslides have caused severe traffic problems in Quito, Ecuador's capital city and closed all six lanes along Simon Bolivar Avenue, a major thoroughfare in central Quito. Traffic remains congested on the avenues Maldonado, Napo, Velasco Ibarra and others, located in the southern portion of the city. Traffic also remains slow in the sectors of El Trébol, La Marin and La Queseras del Medio, located in central Quito.
