Aircraft wreckage found

Searchers in Ecuador recovered the wreckage of a missing Venezuelan cargo aircraft that crashed in a mountainous region of Ecuador on 31 August 2008. The aircraft and the remains of the aircraft's three crew members were found in a mountainous area of Cotopaxi province in southern Ecuador. The Boeing 737-200 aircraft, owned and operated by Venezuelan carrier Conviasa, was traveling from Caracas's Simon Bolivar "Maiquetia" International Airport (SVMI/CCS) en route to Latacunga Airport (SELT/LTX), located 50 mi/80 km south of Quito. The cause of the crash is still under investigation; however, authorities stated that the weather was clear and calm around the facility at the time the aircraft went missing.
