Students protest for 2nd day

Approximately 500 students took part in a second day of protests at the National University of East Tomor (Timor-Leste) on 8 July 2008. Reports indicated that 18 students have been arrested in the second round of demonstrations, which are being held to protest government plans to give lawmakers imported luxury vehicles. Another 21 students were arrested on 7 July. Students carried banners and denounced the government plans, stating that the money should be used instead to lower national food prices
