Aircraft crashes into mountain

A Beechcraft 1900 aircraft operated by Air Serv International crashed into a mountain during stormy weather in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on 1 September 2008. Search and rescue efforts have not yet been completed, but all of the aircraft's 17 passengers are presumed dead. The aircraft was en route from Kinsasha to the eastern city of Goma when it crashed, and aircraft debris was found approximately 9.4 mi/15 km northwest of Bukavu Kavumu Airport (FZMA/BKY). The United States-based Air Serv International is one of several organizations that operate transport services to relief organizations in the DRC.
