24 HR TAXI DRIVERS STRIKE

Taxi drivers launched a 24-hour nationwide strike on 21 July 2009 over the activity of illegal taxis and mini-buses, particularly on the routes to and from airports. In addition to the work stoppage, protesting drivers blocked the routes to all of the country's airports and ports for approximately 15 minutes. The strike caused disruptions for hundreds of commuters and tourists.
