Thousands of indigenous protesters expect to arrive in Cali on 25 October 2008, completing a five-day march from La Maria. Travellers should expect transportation disruptions and possible violent confrontations in the vicinity of the Universidad del Valle campus in Cali. Several violent incidents, including the shooting of two protesters, have already occurred during the course of the march. President Alvaro Uribe has agreed to meet indigenous leaders in Cali on 26 October to discuss the protesters' concerns regarding property rights, education, health care and paramilitary groups.
