Police foil bomb attack in Bogata

On 6 August 2008 Colombian police thwarted two car bombings that Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebels had planned to conduct in Bogota during Independence Day celebrations on 7 August. Officers arrested five rebels. According to authorities FARC was planning major terrorist attacks in several parts of the city and against personalities at the national level. No further information is available at this time.
