02 Sep 2008
A car bomb exploded in front of the Palace of Justice in Cali during the early morning hours of 1 September 2008, killing at least four people and injuring more than 20 others. The building, located in central Cali (which is located approximately 186 mi/300 km southwest of Bogota), sustained material damage. The dead included three homeless people, a taxi driver and a female bystander. Approximately 176 lb/80 kg of explosives were used in the blast. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but it is believed that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) perpetrated it. Colombian authorities have promised a 400 million peso (US$206,000) reward for information leading to the arrests of those responsible for the attack.
