Bomb explosion at Bogota ATM kills 2

28 Jan 2009
At approximately 2105 local time on 27 January 2009 a bomb exploded in northern Bogota, killing two people and lightly injuring 12 others. Authorities indicate that the bomb was placed at an ATM inside a Blockbuster video rental store, causing the partial collapse of the two-story building. In 2008 the left-wing rebel group Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) carried out a similar attack on another Blockbuster store, and authorities believe the Antonio Narino Front of FARC is likely responsible for the 27 January bombing. FARC rebels often use bomb threats and attacks to extort money from Bogota businesses. Officials have offered 100 million pesos for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
