Bomb exploded in central Buenaventura

At approximately 0930 local time on 24 March 2010 a car bomb exploded in central Buenaventura, Colombia’s principal port, located in the southwestern Valle del Cauca department. The explosion occurred outside the offices of the attorney general and the mayor, situated in a commercial zone of the city. The blast killed six people and injured at least 23 others. Authorities indicated that one other person may have been killed in a nearby business. Authorities have opened an investigation into the incident, but have not yet commented on possible perpetrators. No group or individual has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
