Tropical Depression Higos was downgraded

Tropical Depression Higos was downgraded after weakening over Luzon in the Philippines on 2 October 2008; however, according to meteorologists at Wilkens Weather Technologies, Higos is expected to regain strength over the next 72 hours as it tracks over the South China Sea. Higos is slated to make landfall near Hong Kong, China, on 5 October, after which it will quickly dissipate. Higos is tracking west-northwest at approximately 16 mph/14 kt and is located approximately 335 mi/535 km west-northwest of Manila. The current maximum sustained winds are 35 mph/30 kt with gusts of up to 74 mph/40 kt.
