Police and military officials were deployed in Tiananmen Square on 4 June 2009 to prevent protests from occurring in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre. Despite the sensitivity of the anniversary, Tiananmen Square was opened to visitors on 4 June
