PARTS OF BEIJING SHUT DOWN FOR CEROMONY DRY RUN

Parts of Beijing were shut down on 18 September in order for the government to conduct a practice run of the commemoration ceremonies for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which will take place on 1 October. Businesses and retail outlets shut down after lunch in order to accommodate the dry run.
