Nightclub fire kills four

On 10 August 2008 a fire occurred at a residential building -- the site of a nightclub -- in the Mong kok district of Hong Kong. The fire, which occurred at Corwall Court and Nathan Road, killed four people and injured five others. Both Cornwall Court and Nathan Road and the surrounding area were still closed to the public and transportation on 11 August. Approximately 56 people were transported to the hospital as residents were evacuated from the building. The fire proceeded to burn for several hours; roads surrounding the area were sealed off. Officials do not know what caused the fire and an investigation is underway.
