Hundreds of migrant workers rioted in the coastal town of Kanmen in Zhejiang province on 10-12 July 2008. The demonstrators, who were protesting the mistreatment of a fellow worker, destroyed cars and motorcycles. Eyewitness reports indicated that many participants attacked the local police station. Officials denied reports of a violent demonstration, stating that there were only mild protests, with only 30 people detained. An official specifically denied claims that there had been an attack on a police station. There were no official reports of injuries related to the protest.
