Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) have advised that:
As of July 9, 2008, a total of 72 cases of HFMD caused by EV71 have been reported in Hong Kong. According to the Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection, the number of EV71 reported cases for 2008 is higher than the annual total reported cases in the past decade. It appears that HFMD activity is increasing and is expected to continue increasing over the summer months.
