Toronto public service workers go on indefinite strike

24,000 City of Toronto workers launched an indefinite strike after negotiations over the terms of a new contract failed. The strike will affect a number of government services, including residential refuse and recycling collection and summer daycare services. Emergency police, fire and medical services will not be affected and neither will The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), the main public transit system.
