Militia group revoke death threat against French crew of oil vessel seized by them

On 1 November 2008 the militia group the Niger Delta Defense and Security Council (NDDSC) revoked a death threat against the French crew of an oil vessel seized by the group on 31 October. An NDDSC commander stated that the militia group does not have any grievances against the French government and will not kill the hostages. The NDDSC is believed to have carried out the kidnappings off the Bakassi Peninsula in conjunction with the allied Bakassi Freedom Fighters (BFF) militia group.
