Explosion on bus in Yangon

An explosion occurred on a passenger bus travelling through downtown Yangon on 9 September 2008 at approximately 1100 local time (0430 UTC). Reports did not indicate what caused the explosion but stated that the blast shattered windows and ripped a hole through the roof of the bus. Three people sustained minor injuries, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, which took place just one day after the government detained several activists believed to have been involved in bombings.
