Transport Disruptions following Heavy Rains
16 Feb 2010
On 16 February 2010 heavy rains struck Buenos Aires, causing isolated flooding and power outages. Authorities shut off electricity in areas near heavy flooding, affecting approximately 30,000 people living in the districts of Belgrano, Saavedra and Nunez. Authorities also reported flooding in Villa Crespo, Caballito, Parque Centenario and Almagro. Non-functional traffic lights exacerbated traffic disruptions, and officials reported additional delays on subway lines. Authorities expect electric and transportation services to be fully normalised by the end of 16 February.
