Airport workers start indefinite strike

30 Jul 2008
Brazil's airport workers union began an indefinite strike at midnight on 29 July 2008 to demand a 10.56 percent wage increase and other benefits. Personnel at many of Brazil's main commercial airports, including the international airports in Rio de Janeiro (SBGL/GIG) and Sao Paulo (SBGR/GRU), have agreed to join the strike. However, no major delays have been reported at either airport as of the morning of 30 July.
