Risk of further protests in next few days

There is a risk of further protests linked to the Bolivian Workers' Confederation (COB) within the next few days in La Paz and in the departments of Ouro, Potosi, Chuquisaca and Cochabamba. On 30 July 2008 COB members, demanding the government's approval of the new pension law, invaded and damaged a government building in La Paz. Protesters have threatened to block roads and invade other government buildings unless the government approves the legislation.
