Protests could close airports
21 Oct 2008
Social groups are marching on La Paz to put pressure on Congress, and are expected to congregate in and around Plaza Murillo. Visitors should be aware of the disruption in the city, and should avoid groups of protestors.
It is understand that all international airports are currently operating. However, there is the risk that violent protests could close the airports again at little or no notice.
On 20 October the social groups in El Alto said that they were blocking the airport, access may therefore be disrupted. You should maintain contact with your airline/tour operator before travelling, and in country you should monitor local media reports for up to date information.
