Bermuda
Authorities may still issue tropical storm watch warning
11 Jul 2008
As of 0900 local time on 11 July 2008, Hurricane Bertha was located approximately 350 mi/563 km southeast of Bermuda. The hurricane, a category 1 storm, is moving northwest at 7 mph/3.5 kt with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph/137 kt. The hurricane is expected to maintain its strength over the next 24 hours. According to meteorologists at Wilkens Weather Technologies, the hurricane is still expected to bypass Bermuda, as a low pressure trough pushes the hurricane to the north-northwest. However, it is still possible that the hurricane could hit Bermuda, depending on how quickly this process occurs. At the very least, Bermuda will still experience strong to near gale force winds. Bermudian authorities have not yet issued a tropical storm watch for the territory, but have warned that one may be issued if the hurricane continues to approach the territory
